Just like that, my last two playlists of 2019 have come around. I had the idea of posting monthly playlists for the year back in January and it honestly only feels like yesterday since I started them. It’s crazy!
I’ve been making personal playlists for as long as I can remember (it all started with a click wheel iPod – ah the memories!) and I love discovering/re-discovering new and old music favourites so I have had a lot of fun sharing my playlists with you all!
You better know that November and December are no exception so let’s dive in…
November 2019
Okay, so do you remember when I told you that some playlists would be a little bit mixed? Well, it turns out that November was one of those. There are the usual pop tunes but the folk, singer-songwriter and country roots decided to creep back in a little. The kind of stuff I, and quite honestly, most Irish people grew up listening to. I guess it’s inevitable because no matter how far I stray from those genres, I will always come back to the folk/country and I am not one bit sorry!
Singles
Lover (First Dance Remix) – Taylor Swift
I have probably mentioned Miss. Taylor a few times throughout the year but I couldn’t let November go without the mention of the first dance remix of Lover. Look, anything I write about this version won’t do it justice. It’s just a beautiful piece of music that you need to listen to if you haven’t already! You can check it out in my playlist below.
Donnybrook Fair – Nathan Carter, Finbar Furey
So, this is where the Irish/folk roots come into play. When one of Ireland’s top country music stars and songwriter giant collaborated it was hard not to take notice. There’s something quite reminiscent of this new track, like you know it’s newly written but it’s also like something you would have heard your mother play on the radio and singing along to in your early childhood and I think that’s why I like it so much. There’s something homely about it, but the lyrics are super sweet too. Give it a listen in the playlist below.

December 2019
I sort of went for the more modern approach when it came to the festive sounds of December this year. We all know what the old favourites sound like and although we hear them all throughout December I wanted to go for something a little different. Because of this, I threw in some remixed/reworked old Christmas classics, new festive faves from our own finest singer-songwriters and some classics among the non Christmas tunes that caught my attention. I really love this playlist and I hope you like it too!
Singles
How I Know It’s Christmas – Hudson Taylor
From the unmistakable sound of Hudson Taylor, comes one of the new festive favourites I was just talking about. Released this month, ‘How I Know It’s Christmas’ tells the story of getting home in time from Christmas to be surrounded by the ones you love and capturing the annual festive period in one. You can hear it in the playlist below.
Treat People With Kindness – Harry Styles
Not a Christmas tune, but I am loving this uplifting number from the wonderful Harry Styles. If his objective is to bring a little light into people’s lives through music, then he is doing just that. Give it a whirl, and check it out in my playlist below!
